Empowering Local Economy: 509 Task Forces’ “ROSITA” Initiative in Mbilusiga Village

INTAN JAYA - A remarkable act of compassion and dedication unfolded on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. The Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, a military unit under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community welfare during their border security mission in Indonesia-Papua New Guinea.

As part of their routine patrols, the Holomama Post, led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, launched the “ROSITA” initiative—an effort to buy up agricultural products from local residents of Mbilusiga Village in the Sugapa District. This initiative directly supports the local economy by purchasing and utilizing farming produce for the Soldiers’ daily needs.

A Mission Beyond Duty
Under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, Commander of the 509 Task Forces, the Soldiers have been encouraged to prioritize community assistance alongside their security responsibilities. The ROSITA program exemplifies this ethos. Using their own personal funds, the Soldiers went beyond their call of duty to purchase crops from local farmers, including Mrs. Rita Japugau, a resident of Mbilusiga Village.

The joy was evident as Mrs. Japugau expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Commander 509. God bless.” Her heartfelt words highlight the tangible impact of this initiative on the lives of local residents, who often face economic challenges in the region.
